YH beja review

Just finished trying out a new brand of nail polish: yh beja. It sells for just $1 and looks really good. I tried the silver polish. It goes on smooth but is a little harder to remove. It didn't discolor my nails or anything like that. Overall it's a good product for the price.

Want your eyes to stand out?

Looking to make your eyes stand out? We have some tips to help you out.

First, choose your makeup according to your eye color. Blue = Brown, Beige or Silver eyeshadow. Brown = Gold, Tan or Blue eyeshadow. Green = Purple, Blue, Silver, or Pink eyeshadow.

Always use mascara if you want your eyes to look larger. Avoid applying any to the bottom lashes. Instead use eyeliner for the bottom of your eyes. It always helps to use a lash curler too.

Get Your Best Lashes Tip!

Some volumizing mascara can be heavy and weigh your lashes down and take out the curl. To get your best lashes, use a lengthening mascara first, this will hold the curl, and then use a coat of your volumizing mascara over that :)

Layered look!

The layered look is always a great way to change up any outfit. And it flatters all body types! So get out there and rock those layers like our friend here ;)

Geometric Eye Makeup

A daring yet doable look for your eyes: the Geometric look.
This is our first try.

Just use your eyeliner to sculpt in the edges. Then outline it with the desired color of eye shadow using a small, accurate brush or use a bright colored eyeliner.

Spring!! Cute Colored French Tips

Sorry about the lack of posts lately. Life is busy. But we are back to show you an easy and quick sping look. Colored Tips.
Just choose your favorite color and paint only the tips of your nails. Cover with a coat of clear for shine and you are all done!

Eyeliner Tip: Keep it from smearing

Sporting an eyeliner solo? Keep it from smearing. After applying it, add an eyeshadow the same color on top of just the eyeliner :)

New Love: Pure Ice Polish

Pure Ice brand nail polish is awesome. They have a bunch of really cool colors and are really cheap compared to other brands, so you can buy as many colors as you want! The only draw-back is that they chip more easily. But they still get a thumbs up :)

Glitter French Tips!!

Our friend once again has shared an awesome nail style with us here at Daring DIYs.

She'll take it from here:

They are technically glitter French tips. All I used was a base coat, French tip (white) polish, silver glitter polish and a top coat. I used a toothpick to apply the glitter after I painted the tips :) Oh and another good tip that worked really well for this is after the nails have dried slightly, submerge them in ice cold water for about 3 minutes and they dry instantly! Literally changed my life!!  And all of the polishes I used were Essie brand :-)

Get Your Makeup Matched!

Like many of us, you probably select your own foundation. Matching you skin tone the best you can. Some may get it right. Others may not and not even know. A great way to make sure you have an excellent match is simple and free.
Ulta stores are just about everywhere girls there will match you for free. They will go through all the different shades, even open the bottle to apply some and make sure its perfect. By far one of the easiest ways to get the right makeup for your skin! 

Sparkly Gradient Nails

Just completed this little goodie ;) Sparkly Gradient Nails. Just put on a base coat in the color of your choosing, and get out the glittery polish. Just dab it on the nail half way between the cuticle and the tip. Very lightly. Then dab more as you get closer to the tip. Gradually make the glitter more dense, this will create the gradient effect. Stop when you have the desired amount of sparkle. Top coat it for shine and you are DONE!

Cute Nails Spotted

We were all hanging out today and noticed that one of our friends had some really cute nails. So we snapped a pic. She said she used a tooth pick to achieve those stud-like dots on her ring finger. Pretty cool.

Winter Curls Boost

Sorry about the lack of posts lately. We all know life is hectic and full of suprises.

Anyway, it is still winter so I thought I'd give a little shout to all you curly-haired girls and share a tip on how to quickly revive those frizzy winter curls.

First of all, moisturizer. Not too much. We don't want goopy hair.

Next, get out the flat iron. You may be thinking, but Rena, I don't want to straighten my hair. Well you aren't going to. You are going to take a piece of your hair about an inch thick, twist it, and flat iron the twist of hair quickly (too slowly and it will take out too much of your curl). Keep doing this till you have the desired amount of smoothness.

Fluff your hair a bit and viola!

Subject: Grammys

So what better subject to discuss today than the looks going on at the Grammys last night?

Katy Perry wasn't wearing pink or any other wild color hair. Winner.

Kat Dennings had an awesome look going on, contrasting her light skin with that deep colored lipstick with nails to match.

The loose ombre colored curls Rihanna wore were really cool. It almost seems like forever since we have seen her in that pixie cut.

Lastly, Taylor Swift's braided headband was well done and really complimented her look. Thinking of doing the same? Here's a quick explination on how to DIY :) Don't worry, you don't need to French braid.

Grab a small section of hair right above your ear and braid it like a regular braid. Braid it to the very end and secure it with a clear elastic. Then pull the braid up and over your head just like you would place a headband.
Now fasten the end of the braid right behind your other ear by crossing two bobby pins through your braid and your hair. Choose a color that matches your hair. DONE!!

Oh no: time for some remodeling

We just found out that we can't be using other folks photos to post on our blog. And now that we think about it that makes alot of sense. It does totally stink that we have to take down almost all the pix we have here but that just means that you'll have alot of new pictures to look forward to :)

Brown Eyes

Hey all you brown-eyed girls! Here are some eye makeup tips for you. Some times it's scary to try different colors,I know. But if you know what colors to pick, you can look great! Some colors that work well with brown eyes are blue, purple, and pink. And those good ol' neutrals like bronze, chocolate, and copper.

Here is a good look, purple eyes!

Step 1: Prep lids with a base
Step 2: Apply lavender shadow to the upper lid from lashes to crease. If you're feeling daring, add some sweeping motions like the picture.
Step 3: Sweep a dark violet into the crease and along the upper and lower lash line and blend.
Step 4: Sweep some more dark violet onto the lower lid.
Step 5: Add some dark eyeliner to the top lid.
Step 6: Coat top and bottom lashes in mascara

Its like 11 degrees outside...and i just saw a guy wearing shorts.... OMG WHAT?! ARE YOU CRAZY! CAUSE I THINK YOU ARE!!!

Disappointing Review

Petites Crystal Clear nail polish melts the undercoat.

I was trying to make gradient nails. It dried and was fine. Started applying my top coat of clear polish using Petites. It started like MELTING. Ruining what I just did. So not right. Very disappointed. Re-did it and top-coated with Sally Hanson Hard As Nails clear polish. All is well again. YAY.

So, the moral of the story? Don't use Petites clear as a top-coat for your nail art.

Despite the fact that fake braces are seen as a status symbol to young people in Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, the government has made the selling of the fake braces illegal following the deaths of two adolescentes in Thailand. With a punishment of 6 months in prison or $1300 fine.
